Inspired by haute couture and salvaged materials, San Francisco artist Emiko Oye creates one-of-a-kind urban jewelry and sculptures from recycled materials (factory scraps, discarded toys and LEGO®) in combination with precious metals and gemstones.
These amazing haute-couture dresses are the fruit of a collaboration between the growing fashion star-designer Iris van Herpen and the architect Daniel Widrig. Entirely made from a 3D printed process those garments are without any seam which means there were no sewing machine or handwork involved. Maybe some of you had the chance to see one of these dresses during the last year London Design week’s “3D revolution 2.0” exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Speedo and From Somewhere teamed up to develop your dream dress. Made of surplus materials from the special editions of Speedo olympic swimsuits, the Unity dress is designed for both fashion and sport purposes. Orsola de Castro (From Somewhere) describes the project in the following video. It’s probably not the best choice for water sports, but it definitely has the sexy mermaid look!
